1st Retightening after Establishment

During this session we
will discuss your personal hair care history, your styling preferences and your lifestyle in order to determine if Sisterlocks or Microlocks
is right for you.
You will also have "Test Locks" put in your hair to check sizes and see if they will hold. This consultation is essential for both you and your Loctician to ensure you get your locs done in the most suitable way.

Bring some good books and entertainment because the locking process can
take up to 2 days.
You will be provided with a loc kit to help you start your journey. Be sure to schedule your 1st retightening before you leave. Good maintenance is the key to gorgeous locs over time.

You will need to schedule your follow-up visit within 4 weeks after your establishment.
Your Loctician will monitor the integrity of your locs, tighten them up and give you and idea of how long the settling-in process is likely to take.

We recommend that you schedule your first few retightening visits at 4 week intervals. This way the progress of your locs can be monitored. As your locs mature, your Loctician will be able to determine how often you will need to come in for retightenings on a regular basis. The average time between visits is 4-6 weeks.
If you want to get started on your Sisterlocks or Microlocks journey. Schedule a consultation today.

Microlocks can be started with twists, interlocks, braids and sometimes coils.
Sisterlocks are only started via interlocks
The cost of Microlocks or Sisterlocks vary on the length, density and sometimes texture of your hair. The initial cost of can seem expensive due to the love and time it takes for them to be established. However the regular maintenance can be less expensive compared to other hair care practices.
The time it takes to establish varies depending on the length and density of hair. However it normally takes 2 days to establish.
Adding extensions to Microlocks is an option. However it depends on the current health of your hair and if your hair can withstand extensions.
Extensions for Sisterlocks is not normally done and not recommended as some practitioners may not recognize your locs as Sisterlocks and will refrain from taking clients who have extensions.
Of course! Microlocks & Sisterlocks offer so much versatility. You can style your hair in braids, twists, updos, ponytails, curls, and even do nothing at all.
Once your locs are mature and have settled you have the opportunity of taking a retightening class.
There are a lot of factors that can cause your hair to break or thin but it's not the locs themselves. It depends on your Loctician retightening your hair properly and not too tight. It also depends on the client keeping up with the appropriate retightening schedule. Also keep in mind certain medications, health conditions, and genetics can be a factor, as well as deficiencies in supplements, vitamins, protein, or iron, etc.
It's recommended that you wait until your locs have settled/matured before coloring your hair. Due to the chemical process that takes place during color you want to make sure your locs are mature so that you can proceed with the necessary treatments to take care of your colored locs. Please note that coloring your locs can alter your hair texture.
You should retighten your locs every 6 weeks. Depending on your size locs or growth rate you may need to come sooner. I don't recommend going past 8 weeks. It's important to remain on a consistent schedule to keep the health and integrity of your locs.
There is no set date on when your locs will mature however it really depends on what you do or don't do as far as taking care of your locs. Also length, and texture are factors of when your locs will mature.
No, they can be taken down, however it is a very tedious process. Not to mention the time and money that is vested in starting your journey will be wasted. You do not want to start this journey with the intention of taking your Microlocks or Sisterlocks out. Think of it being a lifestyle.
